- Resolution and compression. Clean, high-quality footage gives us more to work with than heavily compressed clips.

Clean Plates: Why They Matter
A clean plate is a shot of the scene without the thing you want to remove. When one exists, removal is faster, cheaper and more convincing, because we use real footage instead of rebuilding it.
If you plan to remove a person, a prop or a rig, ask your camera team to record a few seconds of the empty scene from the same position, with the same lighting, right after the take. Lock the camera on a tripod if you can. That one short clip often saves hours of work.
